Prohibited content
What we won’t distribute
We’re protective of the journalists on our list — and of you. Send any of the below and we’ll stop it before it goes out. No refunds for content that breaks these rules.
Screening
Most of this is common sense, but it’s worth being clear. We’ll turn down a release that involves:
Anything illegal
- Goods or services that are illegal where they’re being offered — drugs, weapons, stolen data, and the like.
- Content that infringes someone else’s copyright or trademark.
Fraud and market manipulation
- Pump-and-dump schemes, fake scarcity, guaranteed-return “investments,” and anything designed to mislead the market.
- Made-up statistics, fake endorsements, or invented partnerships.
Hate, harassment, and violence
- Content that attacks or demeans people based on who they are.
- Threats, harassment, or anything that incites violence.
Adult and explicit material
- Pornographic or sexually explicit content.
- Anything involving minors in any unsafe context — zero tolerance.
Impersonation and deception
- Pretending to be a company, person, or outlet you’re not.
- Malware, phishing, or links meant to harm the reader.
Misleading health and money claims
- Medical claims that aren’t backed by evidence — cures, miracle results, that kind of thing.
- Financial advice dressed up as news without the proper disclaimers.
If you’re not sure, just ask
Plenty of releases sit in a grey area — a bold claim, a sensitive topic, a regulated industry. That doesn’t mean no. Send it over and we’ll tell you straight whether we can send it, and what would need to change.
Before you write, it’s worth reading our guidelines — and you can always head back to PR Wire to start a release.
